A comfortable Emirates flight from London Heathrow to Bali via Dubai taking about 18 hours and coming from 5 degrees of cold English winter to…
…about 30 degrees (86 degrees F) of glorious Balinese sunshine, the naysayers at work would be most upset to see that there was none of the rain they had so thoughtfully predicted 🙂
Having been picked up from the airport the night before by our super friendly driver (who was still smiling despite us being over an hour late) and taken to The Seminyak Beach Resort and Spa. We glided through the checkin to our room and into a much needed slumber.
We woke up the next morning to an outstanding buffet breakfast, covering the full gamut from Western to local specialities with eggs cooked to order in more ways than I thought possible.
We opted for beachy pooly first day, trying to gently convert the pasty whiteness of an winter Brit to a healthy vitamin D rich glow. Finding it hard to leave as the fabulous waiter and, my new best friend, kept coming round with complimentary food and cocktail samples.
Eventually rolling off the sun lounger for a stroll along the beach, stopping off at The Alila Seminyak for our first night’s meal a glorious mezze of local foods, I’m pretty sure I could eat satay for every meal!
From the beach side beanbags we took in both the beauty and the amazingly chilled vibe of Seminyak beach.
The first day was pulled by the sun beneath the horizon before we had even noticed.
And with the sun disappearing and the jet lag kicking in it was time to rest up for some proper exploring the next day…
